Profoto Location Shoot With B2’s And Profoto Silver Beauty Dish: Profoto US

If you are a photographer, you’ve probably already had two quick thoughts when you saw the word “Profoto” in the title of this post. The first was probably related to price because Profoto “ain’t” cheap, but hopefully the second was quality because Profoto lighting is awesome. As you watch the video below, think of what is being shown beyond the gear being used and how you might be able to experiment with your own gear to get some great results. The shoot below was for the photographers personal use. Two key ways to get better as a photographer is to keep shooting and try new things. The video is less than 5 minutes long. Enjoy!

Video Tutorial: One Flash, Three Looks: Exploring Photography with Mark Wallace

In this 7 minute video, Mark Wallace shows 3 different positions for using an on camera flash. Even if you use an on camera flash, you may be able to pick up a new idea or two from this short video. For those that don’t use an on camera flash at all, you will see how to do things that couldn’t be done as easily in the same environment trying to use the natural (available) light in the room. Don’t let on camera flash scare you.

In case you are not familiar with the term TTL that Mark uses in the video, it simply means that the camera and flash are working together automatically to determine the proper flash output based on the camera settings. In manual mode, you’d have to manually make the needed adjustments.

Mark also mentions exposure compensation on the flash which means that when in TTL mode it changes what the flash thinks it should be putting out based on the results that it puts out on its on. So if the flash is too bright and you change the exposure compensation by lowering it by 1 stop, it will put out less light on the future images.

Photography Video Tutorial: How to Create the Perfect Hero Shot in Broad Daylight

This video from SLR Lounge is using the Profoto B1 which is an awesome strobe light. If Profoto is not in your budget range, then think of other ways to use strobes outside to enhance your photography. At the end of the day calling yourself a natural light photographer is fine provided you produce awesome images, but often times using a strobe outside will be a difference maker.

Joel Grimes Photography Releases “SIMULATING SUNLIGHT in Studio” 40 Minute Video Tutorial

Joel Grimes is one of my personal favorite photographers not only because of his amazing work but also because he shoots with the Einstein 640WS from Paul C. Buff which I also use.

As the title states, Joel Grimes Photography just released “SIMULATING SUNLIGHT in Studio” which is a 40 minute video tutorial that current sells for just $35. I just purchased the video tutorial about 12 hours ago and have not viewed it yet. However, based on my trust in Joel Grimes, I am sure it will be awesome!
