It still amazes me how many potential opportunities are out there to showcase my work that I have not been taking advantage of. Peter Hurley's Headshot Crew website is one of those opportunities. What's funny (and not) is that I found the site months ago but never took action on setting up a profile. Well, I have a profile now.
The large image above is a screen shot of my initial profile setup. It will likely change over time. However, I wanted to have a solid start and not simply register, put zero images and no image of myself. That's a waste when it only takes a few minutes to an hour or so to do something right.
By posting this information, some could say that I'm telling other headshot photographers about the site and they could be my local competition. It's true! My local competitor could go out and set up a profile right now because of this post. Yes, that's possible, but there are three key factors to consider.
First, I have found that people are slow to take action. Some people spend months talking about doing more for their business but never actually take the necessary action. So most people reading this post that offer headshots in their business will likely not set up a profile.
Second, for those that do take action, that's fine as well. My photography does not and will not appeal to everyone looking for a headshot. So it's better for someone looking for a headshot to find photography that they like. If they find someone else on HeadshotCrew.com because of this post, that's OK.
Third, some people just don't see the value in being listed in multiple places. They have a website and maybe a Facebook business page. That's all they need (or think they need). That's not my personal mindset which is one of many reasons that I'm on
