But I have not done it much and I have not done it recently. Why? Because on Social Media, you get better results by sharing and interacting than by outright advertising. (IMHO – In My Humble Opinion)

Yes, I do run ads on Facebook, but they are more about sharing an example of my work than “Here’s a discount” – “Call me now” – “Schedule your headshot today.” I have found that low key sharing and interacting with people seem to work better. Most people that I am connected with know that I am a photographer. They don’t need to see a sales pitch.

Yes, you will have people get annoyed for simply sharing your latest project. However, my face-to-face feedback from people that I run into that I’m connected to on Facebook is far more positive than negative. Although I have ZERO intentions of direct promotion on various Social Media platforms moving forward, I do plan to continue sharing what I’m up to, samples of my latest work and other non-direct sales pitch photography related updates. It’s more of a SHARE approach than a DIRECT approach.

Your Choice: If you want to say “Call Me” – “Check Out My Offer” – “Blah, Blah, Blah,” that is completely your choice because it’s your photography business not mine. However, IMHO, the best way for maximum impact is to share, build relationships and to not outright SELL, SELL, SELL on social media. It’s the 21st century. People do not want to be sold. If people like your work, you can get business by just sharing regular non-sales type updates.

Closing Thought: Look at your promotional type posts and see how many likes and comments you’ve been getting. My guess is that you will see a very low response rate including just a simple like. Also go back and look at a simple update like check out my latest project that had no promotional message in it. You will likely see that you got better interaction than when you posted a more promotional type update.

Final Question To Ponder: On Social Media, how much closed business have you received off of an actual DIRECT SALES TACTIC approach? … Like “Call Me – I’m desperate for your business.”

The post How Should Photographers Use Social Media For Maximum Impact? first appeared on .
