I think that it’s a combination of things: burnout, Summer and motivation quickly come to mind.

I am all for blogging and social media. But blogging and social media for the sake of checking them off is not a strategy. However, my motivation for doing both ties into keeping my online presence active. I do believe blogging is important, but it also has to be appealing to readers.

Previously, I was getting a lot of my blog posts written in the early morning hours and in many cases it was still dark outside. It was not uncommon for me to write on Saturday and Sunday mornings. But here recently, I think the Summer has kicked in and has generated other ideas for the weekend rather than writing blog posts.

I hope to get back to blogging regularly very soon and by no means do I plan to abandon my blog. I do believe that my blog is a key part of my online presence and does make a difference. It’s just that now is simply a time of re-grouping and figuring out next steps for how to proceed with the blog. One thought that comes to mind is VLOGGING which is creating more video based content than written content. In the short term, I do plan do write a blog post per week minimum. As for the long haul? Stay Tuned!

The post Blogged Out: Lessons Learned From 134 Blog Posts In A Row first appeared on .

Well, today is March 31st, 2016 and I have not missed a day so far in 2016.

Part of my motivation is to simply prove to myself that I can do something that I have never done before. The other key motivator is that blogging does make a difference for my personal brand online. I whole heartedly believe that or I’d be doing something else other than blogging.

Blogging expands my site, gives me additional content to share on social media and allows me to write about things that I may not be subject to write about anywhere else online. It is one way to get out ideas and is actually kind of therapeutic.

Do I really have tons of free time to blog? No! However, it’s an important part of my business.

Blogging is not for everyone. But I think anyone with a business should blog on a regular basis. That might be just once a week instead of daily.

The post Hitting Targets: A Blog Post Everyday In 2016 – First Quarter Is Over! first appeared on .

Yes, there are 366 days in 2016 because it is a leap year. So 366 photography relevant posts would be 1 per day for a full year.

Don’t get my wrong. I do believe quality is better than quantity. However, as long as I’m posting valuable photography related content that readers will enjoy, there is nothing wrong with posting a photography related post per day for 366 consecutive days.

Here are random ideas of what I hope to post, how I plan to accomplish it and why I’m doing it:

1) The key is to stay ahead by writing in advance. I did have one period in 2015 that I was caught up for 3 weeks with 3 blog posts per week which would only be 9 days worth of posts under the new plan. That 3 weeks quickly passed and I found myself playing catch up. If you are new to blogging, set a goal of just ONE blog post per week and try to stay ahead by writing at least two posts at the time.

2) Writing the blog post is not the challenge for me because the words seem to flow along as I type. I also get up early on a regular basis and find that it’s much easy to write in the early morning. Some of you reading this may be on the opposite end of that by staying up late. You just have to find what works for you. It’s the tagging of the post that drives me crazy. I think relevant tags are important and I try to associate 5 to 10 of them per post.

3) All of the posts will not be 300 to 500+ words long. I love the videos on the Profoto YouTube Channel and may post a short paragraph and share the video. However, I don’t plan to make that my lazy plan and do that 9 out of 10 posts. My goal is to not do that more than 3 out of 10 posts which means that I still have to write 7 out of 10 blog posts that are at least 300 words long which is about the length of this post (325 or so) to this point. Some of the posts will be simple graphics for the big holiday’s in 2016: Friday, January 1st New Year’s Day | Monday, May 30th Memorial Day | Monday, July 4th Independence Day | Monday, September 5th Labor Day | Friday, November 11th Veterans Day | Thursday, November 24th Thanksgiving Day | Sunday, December 25th Christmas Day.

4) There are many reasons for attempting to do 366 posts in 2016 and here are a few that come to mind.

A) I had the idea at the end of 2014 for 2015 and didn’t do it.
B) The challenge of it. I know photographers who cannot seem to write one blog post per month. They may not see the value.
C) Google loves fresh content and I want Google to pick up on the fact that I am relevant to the photography industry.
D) To provide content to my readers that brings value. Out of 366 posts, there should be several that readers love.

So for anyone thinking about blogging, this post is just over 500 words to this point which gives you an idea of the length (519).

The post 366 Photography Related Blog Posts In 2016 – I Can Do It – But Will I?

So this will be a different post than most. I usually focus on photography, video or some kind of business advice that will help photographers. Well, actually this post will help photographers or anyone that tries to blog on a regular basis.

At one point earlier this year, I was 3 weeks ahead on blogging. Yes, I had a M-W-F post ready to go that was 3 weeks out. But time caught up to me and I just couldn’t seem to keep that pace. Now, I am actually behind.

This post comes at one of my longest gaps without a new post of nearly 2 weeks. Today is June 10th, 2015 and it’s hard to believe that my last post went live on May 29th, 2015. That’s Crazy! Where has time gone?

I am committed to blogging and it’s an important part of my business. But both business and life happen and finding the balance is key. Honestly, I have just not made my self blog. Could I have found the time? Yes. But I lost my way a little which is why this post is meant for me to be transparent, let you know that I’m still hear and to show to those who know me well that there are times that I do lag behind.

The post Blogging Takes Commitment And Falling Behind Is So Easy first appeared on .
